Sahan Journal is excited to announce a new collaboration with Mixed Blood Theatre.

In just a few weeks, we’ll blend theater and journalism for a night of live storytelling and community connection.

Operation Metro Surge changed the ways communities respond to crises. In the face of ICE activity, Minnesotans used support networks, community fundraisers, and rapid response groups to offer direct aid and protection.

The heightened chaos of ICE may be over — for now — but the impacts of the surge continue. So, what happens next with the community networks you formed? The food drop-offs and rideshares, the group chats and Go Fund Me’s.

On May 28, join Sahan Journal and Mixed Blood Theatre for an event filled with storytelling, informative conversations with community advocates, and activities that include you! We’ll hear about each other’s experiences, and talk about new ways you’d like to support your neighbors.

Founded in 1976, and based in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, Mixed Blood is an organization that uses theater to disrupt injustice, advance equity and build community. Sahan Journal is a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to providing fair, accurate, and responsive news coverage for immigrants and communities of color in Minnesota.

We hope to see you Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. at Mixed Blood Theatre, located at 1501 S. 4th St. in Minneapolis.
