John Gebretatose jokes for a living, as a performer and a leader at Huge Improv Theater and BlackOut Improv. But he came by those jokes the old fashioned way: by dealing with a lot of decidedly unfunny stuff, including his mother’s mental illness. He tells Sahan Journal about the recipe that helped bridge the distance between mother and son.
