Every seat in both the state House of Representatives and the state Senate are up for election tonight.

The Democratic Farmer-Labor Party currently has a one-seat majority in the Senate. The House is tied between the DFL and the Republican Party at 67-67.

The result of the tied House, which came after the 2024 election, led to both parties splitting membership in most committees and appointing Republican state Rep. Lisa Demuth in the role of speaker.

The tied House followed two years of DFL control of both chambers and the governor’s office. Before then, the DFL and Republicans split control of the chambers from 2019 through 2023.

Check back tonight for live election results. Polling places close at 8 p.m. Results will be updated approximately every 10 minutes throughout the evening.
