Minneapolis City Council candidates for Uptown, Whittier address housing and public safety challenges

Two immigrant women of color, Aisha Chughtai and Ubah Nur, are running in Minneapolis’ Ward 10 to replace current Council president Lisa Bender, who is not seeking re-election. Chughtai, a union political organizer, supports tenant protections and violence-prevention training for frontline responders. Nur, a job counselor, would seek policies that expand housing options for larger families and unlock the professional talents of newer immigrants.
