We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for an Associate General Counsel – Operations who will support the Human Resources, Communications, Operations, Business Technology Solutions, and operations aspects of the accounting team at Minnesota Housing. Essential Job Duties

  • Provide legal expertise and advice for Agency-wide departments, particularly for Human Resources, Communications and Business Technology Support (BTS).
  • Partner with the Attorney General’s Office regarding Agency litigation.
  • Complete special projects assigned by the General Counsel.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Member of the Minnesota state bar or, if a member of another state bar, plan to be admitted to the Minnesota state bar within one year of hire.
  • At least two years of legal experience as an attorney working in one of the Following areas: housing finance, litigation, labor and employment law, data security, technology, or communications.
  • Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing skills to ensure that the Agency is receiving high-quality legal advice, particularly when there are complicated issues and grey areas in the law that require significant analysis to effectively evaluate risk.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills to facilitate effective communication both with internal staff, Agency leadership, and outside entities, including outside counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural competency as demonstrated by skills for communication and interaction across cultures and awareness of one’s own world view and that different world views exist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity.
  • Preference for experience with state of Minnesota contracting and procurement requirements.
  • Experience with data practices, contracting, grants, and/or rulemaking processes.
  • Experience practicing law in the public sector is preferred.
  • Experience working in the area of affordable housing.
